Projects successfully implemented

ICESPS has successfully undertaken numerous projects in a variety of environmental issues some of the notable ones include;

  • The protection of the Biodiversity in cross boarder areas. A project ICESPS worked with UNDP in the following cross boarder areas: Kenya/Uganda boarder of Sudan, Kenya /Tanzania boarder of Namanga, Kenya/Tanzania boarder of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This project resulted in increased vegetation cover, supply of better beehives, supply of better jikos (stoves), drilling of boreholes, water pans and other reservoirs and encouraging proper farming methods.
  • A study project on creating a legal framework on the protection of hazardous waste and chemicals which we undertook with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
  • Technical Management audit of the East African Cross Border Biodiversity Project.
  • ICESPS assisted in drafting a Bill on Trans boundary movement of Hazardous Wastes – UNEP/UNDP/Dutch Project.
  • Ecotourism – in Conjunction with Conserve International, ICESPS assisted in sinking boreholes and supplying clean water to the Maasai Communities in Laikipia, Kenya.
  • Role of Environment in Fostering Democracy – UNDP and Ministry of Foreign affairs, Kenya.
